2012 Kia Rio5 review

The Kia Rio5   is one of the last of Kia's offerings to get a full styling overhaul. On looks alone, We'd take the Rio. Unlike the Hyundai, the Rio event offers a touch screen system nave.

The Accent and the Rio do share power trains. The Kia Rio5 SX We tested needed 9.5 seconds to reach 60 mph compared with 8.0 for a manually-equipped Accent hatch. An Eco optional package, the which We sampled in Korea, adds to That lower-rolling-resistance tires and an engine stop / start system called "Idle Stop & Go." SX Our test vehicle managed 28 mpg without it, shy of the 30 - mpg city and 40-mpg highway EPA ratings. (The SX also includes projector headlights with LED Drills, LED taillights, and Kia's voice-activated Ova infotainment system.) Whereas other Kia SX models get harsh with the wheel-and-tire and suspension tweaks, the upgrades are indeed upgrades here, keeping The Rio5 Planted a bit more. It's still not quite a corner carver, though: The Rio5 SX is somewhat hard to place, the which is not helped by well-weighted but low-feedback electric power steering, and the suspension still allows some decidedly unsporting body roll. If fuel economy is your thing, the Kia Rio5 is one of many new small cars to hit the magic number 40-mpg highway. Should it satisfy the little-car, big-crowd feature, too.

Kia Rio5  design shop in Irvine, Calif.., Overhauled the Rio's styling from bumper to bumper in an Attempt to Convey power, agility and aggressiveness, qualities Kia believes Will capture the attention of the young and restless.

Idle Stop and Go (ISG) technology is a subtle system That improves city fuel economy up to 3 percent, According to Kia's engineers. The Kia Rio5 -built six-speed automatic transmission is smooth and alert to downshifts.

Our tester Kia Rio5 with the EX trim was kitted out with the UVO infotainment systems powered by Microsoft, but the four speakers do not deliver a crisp midrange or bass, ESPECIALLY compared to the seven-speaker system in the Kia Soul That We drove IMMEDIATELY after the Rio5 .

The Kia Rio5 provides a lively driving experience, outstanding mileage for a nonhybrid engine, a cool exterior and an interior with the kind of high-quality design and materials That you'd expect in a larger, more expensive car.
